Today one of the biggest games of 2009 is released to the UK, The Sims 3. The Sims franchise is huge and it has just got bigger! Developed by EA, The Sims 3 has had a few set backs, one being that 2 weeks ago the game was leaked on the Internet however EA “claim” the version is missing many features as its a pre-final buggy copy. I haven’t played the game yet and I wont be personally going out to buy it today either, mainly because I’m not a big Sims fan, but I know many are and will be getting their copy.

The Sims 3 Released Today in the UK
So what does The Sims 3 bring that, version 1 and its 7 expansions and version 2 and its 8 expansions, didn’t have?
Well firstly there’s a lot more customization which should be welcomed by players. If you have ever made a room but just can’t get a sofa to match or a carpet that’s the right colour but has an awful pattern well finally you can customize pretty much everything to any colour on the 32bit spectrum. This should help the designer side in you flourish even more than before!
Next is the Neighbourhood Exploration. This will allow “Sims” to visit their neighbours, shops, community centres without having to face a loading screen everytime. Also unlike The Sims 2 the whole neighbourhood works off the same time so everywhere shares a daytime and nighttime and other Sims will continue their lives without player interaction.
Skills have changed, but not much really. The main differences are Painting, writing, playing the Piano are classed separatly not all under the “Creativity” skill. – Not a clue why!
Careers have changed too. Now instead of just seeing your sims drive off to their workplace now they will actually go into a building. You wont be able to actually see them moving around in the building but you can give them certain tasks. The careers have different paths the Sims can take, also they have the ability to continue gaining rewards even when at the peak of their career, or get a part-time job.
Movie Making has been added called the Movie Mash Up tool players will have the ability to create movies using multiple camera angles.
The Sims 3 is available on PC, MAC, and even the iPhone/iPod Touch (from the App Store).
Will you be getting the Latest Sims? How many expansions do you think there will be this time?
