Last night my keyboard of 4 years, a Logitech Wireless desktop, packed up. It was a great keyboard and never really had any problems apart from dead batteries now and again. It had survived about 5 spilt drinks was a good build quality and for £40 with a rechargeable mouse, brand new, it was a great combi. I replaced the mouse around a year ago for a Logitech Corded MX 518 which is great for gaming but the keyboard was fine.

Anyway last night it just stopped working new batteries wouldnt help and recently it has being loosing connection to the wireless reciever only 3 feet away. Therefore using the Windows on-screen keyboard i had a look on Overclockers.co.uk for a new one and with strong reviews and at only £29.99 today I picked up the…

Saitek Eclipse II

Saitek Eclipse II

Initial thoughts on unpacking the box was the wrist rest which felt a bit flimsy however after lifting out the actual keyboard it feels heavy and strong and seems a good build quality. Writing this post now using the keyboard the keys feel smooth and are soft to touch. Also it’s a fairly quiet keyboard when hitting the keys but not too quiet, I like that! One major part of this keyboard is the backlit keys. It comes with the backlit colours of blue, red, and purple. You can adjust the brightness which makes the purple more pink than purple but it does look good on the red and blue. The only downside to the backlit keys is some keys are brighter than others. I assume this is where the LEDs are but its not much of a problem and its only £29.99 I shouldn’t expect more should I?

Overall on day one of using the Saitek Eclipse II it feels a great quality keyboard with brilliant backlit keys. Will it last me four years like the Logitech? I’m not sure…

Do you have this keyboard or any other Saitek Hardware? What are your thoughts?
