iOS 6 logoToday is the official release date for iOS 6. The latest operating System for Apple devices could add around 200 new features to your Apple Device. As always some devices are not supported and some getting only minimal features. Some of the major features including new Mapping services directly from Apple, previously Google. These include 3D maps for some devices along with turn by turn directions. Siri is arriving on the iPad 3 also, with with updated sport and movie information. Just like Twitter integration, Facebook is now fully integrated throughout iOS. For users of Facebook you can now post photos, locations and web links right within iOS without the need to use a facebook app or website. Another major feature sees shared photo streams. This allows you to share your photo stream with selected friends and family who will receive your photos as a notification and have the ability to comment on them. Next Apple has added passbook, an app designed to keep coupons, vouchers and tickets in one place. Supporting venues can use passbook to provide you with a virtual gift card and you simply use your iPhone to pay!

What about Jailbreakers?

As with every new iOS release, jailbreakers are warned to stay away from the update. You will loose your jailbreak and possibly unlock if you use an unlocker like Ultrasnow. However if iOS 6 adds stuff you really like or it replaces your need to jailbreak feel free to update. TinyUmbrella has also been updated so be sure to use that before updating. The reason for this is you can save your SHSH blobs with Tiny Umbrella, meaning your can downgrade back to 5.1.1. Again though if your using an unlock do not update as your baseband will change and you will be stuck with no way to go back!

iOS 6 Built into iPhone 5

iOS 6 of course is built right into iPhone 5 so if your someone who has pre-ordered or plans to wait at a Apple or participating store on Friday to get your hands on the device you will not need to update. At this time there is no Jailbreak for iPhone 5 and is unlikely to be one for a while! Also remember to protect your device with an iPhone 5 Case. Don’t go out and buy your new phone at £550 and think “I’ll get a case another day”!

So what are you looking forward to in iOS 6?
