iPhoneTop25

It’s Monday and it’s time for another Review of my Top 5 apps. This week I have reviewed..

DrawRace, SheepStacker, TomTom, Wikipedia Mobile and Sonic…

iPhoneApp_DrawRace
DrawRace – £0.59

DrawRace App – (Requires Data Connection to submit scores)

The DrawRace Game is a great slant on a racer which pays off really well. Unlike most racers where you are driving around a track usually by tilting the device left or right, DrawRace uses a different method. With this game you have to draw using your finger the line on the track you want your car to take. Sounds easy? Well it’s not as easy as you think drawing the line quick makes the car go quicker but taking your time to plan the exact and accurate line to take means the car will go slower. Also you need to slow down how quick you are drawing the track when you want the car to slow down, for example at a corner. It’s a great game that can keep you busy and hooked for ages. There’s no lite version available but for 59p I would say it is worth every penny!

iPhoneApp_Sheepstacker
SheepStacker – £Free (lite) or £1.19

Sheep Stacker App

Sheep seem to be latest thing in the app store. With Sheep Launcher last week and now Sheep Stacker it seems like developers are finding sheep sell! This latest edition, Sheep Stacker, requires you to do just what the title implies, stack sheep. The aim is to drop the sheep off the end of a hook and stack them as high as possible without knocking any off. This is another one of the coffee break apps I love so much plus it has a lite version so you can test it out!

iPhoneApp_TomTom
TomTom – From £59.99

TomTom App - (Requires iPhone 3G or 3GS)

I have being waiting for what seems a lifetime for this next app. TomTom told us ages ago infact when the 3G came out that it had an app available but Apple hadn’t created the APIs needed for the app to work. However in March at the iPhone 3.0 preview event, Apple announced that they had an API for Turn by Turn Directions and at WWDC in June TomTom showed off their app. Well it is finally here and it’s fairly good but there are several features missing. Check out my in depth review of the TomTom App Here!

iPhoneApp_wikipedia
Wikipedia Mobile – £free

Wikipedia Mobile App - (Requires Data Connection)

The Wikipedia Mobile App is designed so you can quickly see all the wikipedia articles in a mobile version with quick access from the home screen. You could go on the wikipedia website of course but this just makes it that bit quicker. It’s probably not an app you will use very often but it’s always worth having it there just incase.

iPhoneApp_sonic.png
Sonic – £3.59

Sonic App

My Final App of this Week is Sonic the Hedgehog! The game is really good and is sonic at it’s best. The game is a little pricey though at £3.59 especially when there’s a free version on the Internet if only the iPhone was Flash compatible! The game has been fully adapted for the iPhone/iTouch. It would of been nice to have the tilt feature added and not just a gamepad. Overall if you love Sonic, (and who doesn’t?) then you will really like this game so it’s worth the pricey outlay.

So that’s another week of fantastic apps for you to try. If you have any apps you want me to check out Tweet me (@MarksBlog) , add a comment, e-mail me just get in iTouch! (See what I did there? :P )

  1. I love the way Sonic gets editions on practically every device in existence :) I really want an iPhone so that I can try out all these apps but I just can’t afford one :( Never mind, maybe when I’m 18 and I get access to my trust fund :)

I reported on that navigation app before shutting down my tech blog :P Sounds and looks good from what I’ve heard :D

And groan at the iTouch joke ;)
